Gamundí López

I am a political scientist studying social inequality and the organizational and market processes through which it is reproduced. My research examines how employers, landlords, and other gatekeepers interpret social categories and allocate opportunities, with a particular focus on racial and ethnic discrimination in labor and housing markets. Methodologically, I combine causal inference, survey and administrative data, survey and field experiments, and computational methods, including supervised and unsupervised machine learning and text classification, using R, Python, and Stata.

A second strand of my research examines the measurement and perception of discrimination through survey experiments. In ongoing work, I study how alternative question framings shape the everyday experiences of discrimination reported by immigrant respondents, combining experimental survey designs with human and LLM-based coding of open-ended responses. This work forms part of a broader research project led by Dr. Mariña Fernández-Reino at IEGD-CSIC.

I hold a BA in Political Science from the University of Barcelona and an MRes in Social Sciences from University Carlos III of Madrid, and I completed a semester of study at Aarhus University. I have worked at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) since September 2024 and joined the IEGD-CSIC in March 2026.

My research has been published in Social Forces, including a matched correspondence experiment examining ethnic discrimination against Chinese minorities in the Spanish rental housing market.
